Insurance based system is nowadays considered good in calculating the risk in some of the insurance companies. They assign points for credit score, moving violations, at-fault accidents, parking tickets, driving under influence and credit score. Before insurance companies and credit score doesn’t have any bearing unlike today, it was considered in assigning points.
Many of the insurance companies use complex algorithms in rating or comparing company whether it weighs one factor lightly or not at all. They also assigned risk by points to each fraction or negative mark instead of using the accident itself. You can know the specifics of the companies point policy by requesting a copy of the company’s files in the insurance department. Also consider an independent insurance broker as the simplest form of investigating company’s algorithms.

Insurance companies give higher premiums to those who are renewing their policy, provided it has a higher points. While some assign points to drivers with bad credit scores and the lower the score the more points assigned to them. They also add points to each individual traffic infraction or claims.

The state also assigned points but it has a different meaning with the insurance points. Usually insurance points correlate to incidents that can earn points on your license and that incident can increase your insurance points.
